Madrid, 17th May 2023 – World Recycling Day
On World Recycling Day, celebrated on May 17th, DONTE GROUP, a leading oral healthcare provider in Spain, has reinforced its commitment to the environment by implementing recycling programs in our clinics and facilities. Through a series of ecological measures, we contribute to the fight against climate change and promote energy efficiency.
Among the actions we have already taken is the agreement with Ecoembes, through which we commit to proper waste separation in our facilities and to promoting recycling among our patients. To achieve this, all clinics and offices have special containers that allow for waste classification. Another measure implemented to improve the environment has been the replacement of plastic cups with paper ones, a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative.
On the other hand, Moonz, our dental brand specialized in children’s orthodontics and pediatric dentistry belonging to DONTE GROUP, collaborates with NGO Creática to promote the recycling of used invisible orthodontic aligners.
The aligners are made of polycarbonate, a thermoplastic material with great strength and flexibility that cannot be adequately recycled in the yellow container. To solve this problem, Moonz clinics have collection points where patients can deposit these devices, which will be disinfected and transformed into supports that purify the air. The objective of this project is to link dental healthcare with environmental protection and teach children the importance of recycling and ecosystem preservation.
Another notable aspect of DONTE GROUP’s sustainable commitment is energy efficiency. The group promotes the use of LED bulbs, allowing for a reduction in environmental impact and improving sustainability. These bulbs provide 6 times greater energy efficiency than conventional ones, and they also have a much longer lifespan. In addition to reducing bulb waste, this change helps to reduce light consumption by 14%, saving up to 380,000 kWh. Likewise, LED bulbs do not contain mercury or other toxic chemicals, making them safer for the environment and their recycling.
““At DONTE GROUP, we are deeply committed to the environment and society. That’s why we have implemented a series of sustainable measures to fight against climate change and preserve the planet. These actions are just some of the initiatives we will undertake to contribute to environmental improvement because we have a clear objective: to continue reducing our environmental impact and promote the transition to a more sustainable business model committed to the planet, “explains María Antonia Gómez, Director of Talent, Compensation, and Sustainability.
Additionally, the group has launched an ambitious sustainability action plan with the aim of improving people’s quality of life, protecting the planet, and promoting responsible corporate governance. As part of this strategy, the group has committed to conducting a thorough assessment of its environmental impact, setting quantifiable goals and objectives in line with its sustainable values, and ensuring continuous monitoring and annual publication of results.
