Madrid, 21st February 2023.-
We extended international recognition with the participation of Drs. Javier Girón de Velasco and Juan Carlos Pérez Varela at the 17th Annual Conference of the Saudi Orthodontic Society, held February 23-25 in Jeddah.
Dr. Javier Girón de Velasco, CEO of Moonz, was in charge of starting the first lecture of this congress, focused on the aesthetics of the maxillary incisor pair in orthodontics in order to highlight the aesthetic point of view of the smile, not only among orthodontists, but with a focus on the entire population. “It is not always clear that the esthetic perceptions of patients and clinicians are the same, so we must understand what the general public considers esthetic and try to find a way to achieve those esthetic goals if possible”, explained Dr. Girón de Velasco.
Dr. Pérez Varela, director of the MAEX clinic in Santiago de Compostela, intervened in the fourth lecture of the day with a presentation on the use of 3D technology in the treatment of skeletal malocclusion. “A high percentage of adult patients who come to our practice have skeletal malocclusions. About 70% are adults and young adults, and about 30% of these patients have maxillary skeletal hypoplasia. Treatments centered on the use of 3D technology to develop a customized expansion with bone support and surgical guides have led to favorable results”, said Dr. Pérez Varela.
The Saudi Orthodontic Society Conference dealt with “Interdisciplinary Orthodontics” and welcomed different well-known prosthodontists, periodontists, endodontists and restorers to provide different points of view on this subject. It was also a meeting point to discuss the techniques of new advances in this field.
